This month, The Sheffield 1000 are proud to donate £1000 to Green City Action, a long-standing charity that has been supporting communities in Burngreave and Pitsmoor for over 30 years.

Green City Action works at the heart of the community, helping residents improve their local environment and create greener, more welcoming spaces. From community allotments and gardening sessions to organising litter picks and clearing fly-tipped land, their work transforms neglected areas into places people can be proud of.

They also run a community toolbank, making tools and equipment accessible at low cost so people can improve their homes and surroundings. Their projects bring together a diverse range of people, including those seeking asylum, individuals facing financial hardship, and those experiencing social isolation or health challenges.

Our donation will support their community allotment playgroup sessions, providing a safe outdoor space where families with young children can play, garden and learn together. These sessions give children the chance to connect with nature, explore biodiversity and enjoy fresh produce, while parents build connections within their community.
