This month, The Sheffield 1000 are delighted to donate £1000 to Sensory Emergency, an organisation helping make events, parties and days out more accessible for SEND children across Sheffield.

At the heart of their work is the Sensory Ambulance – a converted medical vehicle that has been transformed into a calm, controlled sensory environment. The vehicle travels directly to events and venues, providing a safe and welcoming space where children can take some time away, re-centre and regulate when their surroundings become overwhelming.

By bringing this support directly into the community, Sensory Emergency helps children and their families enjoy experiences that might otherwise be difficult or inaccessible.

Our donation will help Sensory Emergency attend 23 children’s placements throughout December, giving children the opportunity to spend time inside the sensory vehicle before enjoying a very special visit to meet Santa.

We’re really pleased to support a project that combines practical sensory support with the opportunity for more children to enjoy the excitement and magic of Christmas.
