South Yorkshire Chaplaincy and Listening Service
24 April 2026
This month, The Sheffield 1000 are proud to donate £1000 to South Yorkshire Chaplaincy and Listening Service (SYCLS), an organisation providing confidential, inclusive support to people facing life’s challenges.
SYCLS works across a wide range of community settings, partnering with organisations to offer pastoral care, listening support and wellbeing services. Their trained Listeners, Chaplains and Wellbeing Ambassadors are embedded within communities, making support accessible, responsive and tailored to individual needs — regardless of background or belief.
A key part of their work focuses on supporting children and young people. Through their Children’s Services, SYCLS provides a safe space for young people to talk openly about challenges such as grief, anxiety and family difficulties.
Our donation will be used as a bursary fund to provide listening appointments for children who urgently need support, particularly in situations where schools may not have the budget to access the service mid-term. This flexible funding ensures that no child is left without help when they need it most.
A £1000 donation could fund 24 visits, equating to 48 sessions across the school year — offering vital support, reassurance and stability for young people navigating difficult circumstances.
We’re proud to support an organisation delivering compassionate, accessible care and making a meaningful difference to children and families across our region.
