For Day Two of our Christmas Giveaways, The Sheffield 1000 is delighted to support a Sheffield sports club that champions inclusivity, determination, and opportunity.

We are proud to donate £1,000 to the Sheffield Steelkings Para Ice Hockey Club, the youngest team competing in the British Para Ice Hockey Association (BPIHA) League. Established in September 2014, the Steelkings began with just a handful of players and a strong ambition to compete against teams from across the UK in the then 2015 British Sledge Hockey League.

Since those early days, the club has continued to grow, welcoming people from all backgrounds and abilities. New members now join the development squad, where they build their skills and confidence, with those showing the right ability progressing to the senior Steelkings squad.

Our Christmas donation will be used to purchase a para ice hockey sledge for one of the club’s youngest players, Toby — helping him continue his development, take part fully in training and competition, and enjoy the many physical and social benefits of the sport.

At a time of year that celebrates generosity and togetherness, we’re proud to support a club that opens doors, builds confidence, and creates opportunities through sport. The Sheffield Steelkings are a powerful example of how inclusive teams can change lives.
