Open Hands Project

10 March 2025

Hi again,

Another week and another donation, this time it is to The Open Hands Project. The Open Hands Project is a Sheffield charity that provides accommodation for destitute asylum seekers. These are men whose asylum applications have been refused, but for various reasons, they are unable to return home or be repatriated. They no longer receive any support or accommodation from the state, and it is illegal for them to work. We offer short-term support and currently have three houses in the city accommodating nine people. Our £1000 donation will cover the cost of renting one of these houses for two months, which is very much appreciated. The Open Hands Project is entirely funded by Sheffield residents, churches, and charities.

One of the photographs below is of one of the hard working volunteers, Ralph, and one of the individuals he supports. Ralph noted that taking photographs can be challenging, as many of the clients are hesitant to have their images taken.

This is another fantastic charity that has really benefited from your donations, and we are thankful they have the help of many hardworking volunteers that are willing to give their time to help those in need.
