RIVA Project

18 September 2026

This month, The Sheffield 1000 are delighted to donate £1000 to The RIVA Project, an organisation committed to creating better life opportunities for people with disabilities in and around Sheffield.

RIVA began in 1998 as a youth club running just one night a week. Today, it has grown into a day service offering a wide range of activities and opportunities for people with learning disabilities, physical or sensory impairments, mental health challenges, and anyone who could benefit from developing greater confidence and independence.

From arts and crafts, baking and sports to trips, independent living skills and work-based training, RIVA helps people learn new skills, build confidence and work towards greater independence and employment.

The project also operates a café and charity shop, both of which are open to the wider community and provide further opportunities for people to develop valuable skills and experience.

Our donation will help RIVA continue to provide low-cost meals for the local community through its café, which is also promoted as a welcoming warm space. As well as making affordable food available, the space gives people somewhere to meet, connect and enjoy the company of others, helping to reduce social isolation.

We’re proud to support a project that brings people together while creating opportunities for greater confidence, independence and inclusion.
