Terms of Use
These Terms and Conditions apply to The Sheffield 1000 website at https://thesheffield1000.org and to donations and recurring donation arrangements made through it. “We”, “us” and “our” refer to [The Sheffield 1000-1 Charity]. By using the website or making a donation, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be aged 18 or over to donate or create a donor account. Donations are welcomed from supporters worldwide, subject to applicable laws and payment availability.
2. Donor accounts
An account is created when you make a donation. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for notifying us if you suspect unauthorised account activity. Available account functions may include viewing donations and managing recurring giving, depending on the website features provided.
3. Donations and recurring subscriptions
Our recurring donation options are £1 weekly, £4.33 monthly or £52 annually. These are charitable donations, not subscriptions to goods or services. The selected amount is charged automatically at the frequency shown at checkout until you cancel.
You authorise our payment provider, Stripe, to collect recurring payments using your selected payment method. Payments are generally charged on the applicable renewal date; actual processing times may vary. We will show any applicable total before you confirm your donation.
You may choose to contribute towards payment processing fees. Any optional fee contribution is calculated and displayed at checkout before payment.
4. Gift Aid
Where The Sheffield 1000 or the recipient organisation is eligible to claim Gift Aid, qualifying UK taxpayers may be able to make a Gift Aid declaration. Under the usual UK Gift Aid scheme, an eligible charity can reclaim 25p for each £1 donated at no additional cost to the donor. This is not a 20% surcharge or an extra charge to your payment card.
By making a Gift Aid declaration, you confirm that you meet HMRC eligibility requirements, including paying enough UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover the Gift Aid claimed on your donations to all charities in the relevant tax year. You must tell us if your circumstances change. Gift Aid is not available solely because a donor lives in the UK; eligibility rules apply.
5. Cancellation
You may cancel recurring donations at any time using the account cancellation function, where available, or by contacting [info@thesheffield1000.org]. Cancellation stops future scheduled charges once processed; it does not automatically refund payments already collected. Please allow sufficient time before the next scheduled payment for your request to be actioned. We will confirm cancellation when it has been completed.
6. Refunds
We offer refunds on request for donations or recurring payments where you contact us within 30 days of the individual payment date. Please contact [insert support email] with your name, payment date and transaction details. Approved refunds will normally be returned to the original payment method via Stripe; bank processing times may vary.
This voluntary policy does not limit any rights you may have in relation to unauthorised payments, payment errors, fraud or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. If Gift Aid has already been claimed on a refunded donation, we may need to amend the associated Gift Aid records.
7. Communications
We send necessary administrative messages, including donation receipts, account notices and subscription or payment updates. We may also send monthly newsletters, fundraising appeals, promotions and updates about The Sheffield 1000 where you have opted in or another lawful marketing basis applies. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in the email or by contacting us. Unsubscribing does not stop essential transaction messages.
8. Payment processing and security
Stripe processes card and other supported payments. We do not ordinarily receive or store complete card numbers. Payments may be declined or delayed by your bank or payment provider. We may contact you if a recurring payment fails and may suspend further attempts or the recurring arrangement if payment cannot be collected.
9. Website use and intellectual property
You agree not to misuse the website, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with its operation or submit false or misleading details. Website text, graphics and other materials belong to their respective rights holders and may not be reproduced without permission except where the law allows.
10. Availability and liability
We take reasonable care to keep the website available and information accurate, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded. Any other limitations apply only to the extent permitted by law.
11. Privacy and changes
Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We may update these Terms from time to time and will publish the revised date. Material changes affecting existing recurring donations will be communicated where required.
12. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory protections that apply to donors elsewhere.
